Winter into Spring Update

Painting with homemade paints (nontoxic)

I understand it's been awhile since I updated Ella's blog. For awhile it seemed like not much of anything was going on, but then things started to pick up.

First off, Ella is learning very quickly all of a sudden. She's always been smart, but now she is catching us, her parents, off guard on the things she is now learning. She is starting to read numbers and is starting to understand that 1+1 is 2. She wants to learn how to spell and call spell STOP just fine. She still loves to count and counts everything. She now has all of her colors and shapes down. She is starting, just this week, to make full sentences of several words like " wait right here, I'm going to change into a princess dress. I'll be back." She can also dress herself and does so every few hours or minutes. She is now fully potty trained and doesn't have problems going at church or in public. She doesn't even need our help taking her to the potty any more, she just goes. She can also most ride her bike without help, but she is still learning control. She is also very athletic and loves to play sports with balls, such as basketball, soccer, and baseball. She loves to dance and make up her own moves. She is getting more and more into art and creating things.  We are looking into preschools and may have found the one, but we are waiting for God to move some things that we can't so we can afford it, we trust in Him. Here are some pictures to tell you more about our smart, sweet, and funny little girl.

First Hair Cut

Ella got her first ever hair cut. Her hair is just so fine and doesn't like to stay in place. It also grows straight over her eyes, it doesn't want to go back or even to the side, so Mommy gave in and gave Ella her first hair cut. She didn't stay very still for it, but in the end I think everyone was happy with it.

Newest Member of the Family

After Christmas we traveled back with Grandma and Papa to meet our newest member of the family, cousin Eliana. Aunt Kelly had a baby girl 5 days before Christmas. Ella didn't seem to be too interested in the baby, but she had lots of fun with her older cousins.

Christmas

We had a small quite Christmas this year. Since Christmas day was on a Sunday this year, Mommy had to spend a lot of time at church. After Christmas services were complete we opened presents when Mommy came home then Grandma and Papa joined us for dinner and the next day. Here are some pictures from our Christmas.

Ella turned 3!!!

This weekend celebrated Ella's 3rd birthday. On Saturday we had a party at Whit's End at Focus on the Family for her and her little friends. They had a lot of fun decorating their own ice cream cone cupcakes and running around Whit's End. It was a great place to have a party. It's free and the kids all had a great time.

The next day Grandma and Papa came down and we went out for lunch. We had a great time at Mimi's and she got a mug of ice cream in honor of her birthday, they even put a candle in it for her. She got a bunch of great movies and moon dough from her grandparents. We got her a toy dog that walks and barks. She loves taking her puppy for "walks." We learned that morning that my cousin gave birth to a healthy girl and now Ella shares her birthday with one of her cousins, this is very special to us, because I share my birthday with said cousin, so this is really neat. The odds of that are so high, it's amazing the timing God puts together.

Today we took her to her 3 year check up. She did great and the doctor says everything looks prefect. She's gained some weight which is great news. She is now in the 15%  for her weight instead of the 1/3 of 1% that she has been in for the last 2 years. It is good to see those results, it's nice to know that going gluten free for her has done her a lot of good. Other news is the doctor says her motor skills and development is right on track. Over all Ella has had a really good 3rd birthday. It's hard to believe that she is my big 3 year old now. It's true what they say: they do grow up so fast.

Halloween

Ella got to go to two Halloween parties this year. The first one was hosted by our apartment. She dressed up as a hula girl and had lots of fun. They did a hay ride, face painting, balloon animals and a pinata.

The next party we went to was our church's Weird, Wild and Wacky Show. It was a lot of fun. They had a bounce house and a magic show. Ella got to have her picture taken with some Disney princesses too.  She got lots of candy at both parties.
